An acrostic poem uses the first letters of a word or phrase to begin each new line of the poem. The content of the poem usually is descriptive of the chosen phrase or word. Consider a few holiday words or phrases. Choose one and write it at the top of your brainstorm scroll. Then, begin to write phrases or words that relate to your chosen word or phrase. After the 10 minute brainstorm session, we will organize those ideas to work into our acrostic. You will need your brain, pencil, scroll, music, and thesaurus.
Here are some great examples of holiday acrostics others have written.

Journal for Thursday:
Choose a topic to write about for today. Be thoughtful as you write. Pay attention to neatness, sentence structure and punctuation.
1.
Describe the perfect day. Put in as many details as you can. Make it a possible day, not a "dream day."
2.
What is the best book you have ever read? Why did you like it? Did reading the book change you in any way? What way?
3.
If you could be a character in any book that you have read, who would it be and why? What traits about that character do you admire the most?
4.
Imagine you are a character from one of your favorite books. Who would it be? Describe an average day you would have. Write it in the voice of the person you are imagining to be.
5.
Write about a favorite Christmas season memory from your childhood. Write all the details you remember in a narrative form. Tell why it is such a special memory.

Quotable Wednesday: Journal Topic: In Gratitude: A Thanksgiving Pondering
Below you find several quotes on gratitude and thanksgiving. During this season, it is especially keen that we should not only give thanks but consider how doing so year round lightens our hearts and makes us better people. Choose a quote below and write about it. What does it mean? What does it mean for you? Do you follow it's advice or do you see something you could gain from it? Just write all about your thoughts. You may choose more than one if you like. Make it personal. Write this in your journal.

Walking in the Path of a Preposition...
Here is your adventure in the preposition. To better understand the importance of and all around magic of the preposition, come along on this adventure and walk in the path of a preposition.
First we are off to dance to a little tune.
Complete the adjoining Preposition on a Mission Sheet while you sing along.
Now, let's get down to business with another catchy tune:
Complete the Catchy Sheet.
Let's do some practice in the house, at the desk, behind the dog, in front of the screen.
Click on the tree.
Then click on me.
Then go by the sea.
Highlight all the prepositions you hear or see in the song.
Just how do I diagram prepositions under the sea?Click under the sea to find out.

Now, let's rock out to the Bazillions one more time before you dive in to the those Prep Worksheets.
While you sing to only one of my absolute Disney faves, write down prep phrases you hear.
